This week we look at the Discipleship tool of Biblical Community. The word "church" gets thrown around a lot. Therefore, we have found it helpful in this message to define church as our standard of beliefs. Also known as statement of faith issues. Once that groundwork has been laid, it is then important to understand how the local church is to operate based on those and other Biblical standards as we set ourselves apart from the world as the Local Church called The Well.
In this week's message, Josh Kesler looks at the importance of God's word in the life of a disciple. Reading the Bible is not a check list item for people who call themselves Christians, reading the Bible is an internal desire of a disciple of Jesus Christ to know him better by reading what he said.
The word of God is not a dead history book filled with stories, facts and figures, do’s and don’ts. It is living and active in a very supernatural way. When you read the Bible, its kind of scary because while you are reading the Bible, it is actually reading you. “Scripture” judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
In this message, Josh Kesler talks about the importance of adding the tool of solitude and prayer to your Discipleship tool belt. Jesus modeled for us how to pray. He pulled away from the noise of the world and connected with God the Father. Even though this is a very simple formula, in our busy lives it is difficult to accomplish. Connecting with God's heart is at the core of becoming a stronger disciple. This can be accomplished by pulling away for some time with just you and Him.
This is the first week in the message series entitled The Discipleship Tool Belt. In this series we will be looking at how we can become stronger disciples of Jesus. In this message series we will not be looking to add religious duties to you life, that is counterproductive. However, we will be examining our motivations and adding disciplines to our lives that will assist in the process. This week we add the discipline of saying "NO". It is an extremely effective and biblical tool when applied properly. As you discern God's will, the ability to say no in many different ways will become an invaluable tool in your Discipleship Tool Belt.
