A year ago I became familiar with a message series called A Beautiful Design. It is a 12 week series by pastor/author Matt Chandler from the Village Church in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. The premise is this: Our culture is always shifting. Society tells us who we should be as men and women, but its message keeps changing. However, the Bible teaches us exactly who we are—men and women created equally but uniquely. God’s beautiful design for us is true and perfect, leading to joy and human flourishing. (The Village Church)
A Beautiful Design is an insightful series of teachings on how God is the originator and creator of all things and as creator, he has a specific design and purpose for all things. Humans are created in the image of God. Throughout the series, Chandler then looks at the specific role of men and men’s struggles. He then shifts to women and women’s struggles. Most importantly, he then explains how we can overcome our misunderstanding of purpose through the power of the Gospel. Starting on Oct. 15th at 6:30pm, for anyone who is interested, we will begin watching the series here at the church. Immediately following the message we will have break-out groups with discussion focused on the message. When you come in, you will be able to sign-up for a break-out group. The groups will be both general and specific. We may have men only groups, college age, young married, and multi-generational groups. When the message is over, there will be discussion areas around the church for the different groups. This course will assist us in our discipleship process as we gather as a church mid-week and discuss together in smaller groups how what we have learned applies to our lives. I am excited about how this teaching will foster spiritual growth here at The Well. If for some reason you are not able to make one of the sessions, all of the information is available at http://thevillagechurch.net/resources/sermons/series/a-beautiful-design/ so you can stay caught up. If you are already in a small group, you can join us and either meet together at the church on Thursdays or you could use this as small group material separately. All of the messages and questions are available on the website listed above. I look forward to growing with you as we learn how God designed us and how we can use that knowledge to reach our community for Jesus Christ. Josh Kesler, Senior Pastor There will be child-care available for birth thru pre-k. We will ask for a donation of any amount as we will try pay our child-care workers to ensure consistency and quality of care. If you are unable to pay, do not let this keep you from attending. We are devoted to making child-care available regardless of your ability to pay, we just want you here. We will not meet on Thanksgiving and will break after Dec. 17th for Christmas/New Years. We will then take a couple of weeks in January to finish it up.
