It often seems like Sunday after Sunday you get the same things. Some songs, prayer, scripture, a message, coffee and rolls. Don't get me wrong, I love all of those things, and we do our best to keep our services fresh, Biblically grounded and relevant to your life. But every once in awhile it is good to mix things up. This is why I am excited about Break-out Sunday on February 24th. By meeting in various homes around Huntington, not only will we be able to meet some people who have just been familiar faces, we can start to build the kind of relationships that will carry The Well into the future as a relational church.
Some questions that have been asked are "What about kids? What will we do with them?" The answer is simple. Worship with them. I love how we do children's ministry on Sundays at The Well, but on days like today, our children can see that scripture reading, prayer, messages, and The Lord's table are part of what we will do. One day they will be out of kids ministry and sitting next to us in the rows. Days like Break-out Sunday begin to teach them and start conversations in the home about Christ and the goal of the church. So what if your child squirms or makes a little noise. Don't feel self conscious. Jesus drew the little children to him, and you shouldn't worry about their participation in church today, either. It is a beautiful thing for all generations of God's church to worship together. Other than a few intentional elements, the service will be informal in nature and shorter than usual. The time before the service and the time at the end will be incredibly beneficial in getting to know one another. Even though this is far from normal for many of us, I could not be more excited about the impact that it is going to have on our church community. The teachers and musicians for each site are readily preparing and I hope you are too. May God bless us as we Break-Out! Josh Kesler Senior Pastor The Well Be sure to sign up for a Break-Out location by this coming Sunday 2/17. The sign up sheets will be located on the table near the entrance of the gym. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment here or contact Josh at [email protected] or Marvin at [email protected]. We look forward to worshipping with you!
